Mrs. Slithers is a major antagonist in the game and the only teacher in the Juice School. She is also one of the bosses you can eventually encounter.

Appearance

Mrs. Slitherss is a giant red snake-like creature with darker red markings all over her. Her eyes have black sclera and colorful irises. Her face is vaguely human in appearance, with a flat face, sharp teeth, and a long, hooked witch-like nose. Her tail is prehensile, and she usually holds a stick of white chalk with her tail.

Personality

Mrs. Slitherss is a cruel, strict teacher, and rules over the Juice school campus with an iron fist (figuratively speaking, of course). She holds very little sentimental attachment to her students, and has no qualms with blasting them with her eyebeams if they answer a question incorrectly. She is unshakably loyal to the Juice Queen, and is fully dedicated to fulfilling her job: to teach future generations about juice, and how to refine and process it. She also actively tries to keep secrets about the world from her students to keep them in line.

Tutorial

During the tutorial, Mrs. Slitherss quizzes the player with several questions related to juice and the world. If the player answers all of the questions correctly, she allows them recess to exercise in the playground where they will find Ingot, while warning them to stay away from The Juice Door. If player fails the quiz or attacks her, she kills them with her eyebeams. If the player flies out of the window before finishing the pop quiz, she replies: "Oh, okay. Just leave then, that's fine," skipping any remaining questions without repercussions.

Boss Battle

Once the player returns to the Juice School, Mrs. Slitherss will remark upon their rulebreaking and attack with her eye lasers. If the player has enough upgrades, they will easily withstand the attack (one "health max" upgrade is enough).

Upon realizing her eyebeams will not work, Mrs. Slitherss will hold up her Draginslayer and begin to fly across the map, swiping with her sword and occasionally summoning Skellies (whom she refers to as her "students" and "alumni") to fight for her.

If defeated, Mrs. Slitherss will fall to the ground, saying she only wanted to teach about juice and accepting her fate. She will then say, "Long live the Juice Queen". She then tells the player that she is going to sleep for a long time, although it's likely she passed away as indicated by her irises rolling up into her sockets. However, due to the fact she, as with all other bosses, can respawn, it is debatable whether or not she really died.

After being defeated by the player at least once, the player will be able to earn the Draginslayer as a random drop from enemies.

Trivia

• The texture used on her eyes is the same "Palette" texture which The Player can use in the Customization menu.
• The quiz can be skipped by leaving the school through the window. Mrs. Slitherss will only remark, "Oh, okay. Just leave then, that's fine," and will not punish the player. Death via failing the quiz can be avoided by jumping through the window.
• If player disobeys her and gets to the Juice Door she will ask them to come back to the classroom where she will proceed to kill them. After the player opens the door she will ask the player again, but also adding that she has a candy for them (which is a lie).
• Her voice is generated with AWS Polly's neural TTS service.
  • She is the first character in the game to have a voice rather than making noises, the 2nd character with a voice is the vampire bat and the 3rd character is the creator. After this, many more characters have started adapting voices.
• She refers to the player character as "weird and gross" (Ironic), "wobbly" and the "worst student ever".
• As of version 0.0.3, she can be hit with the Morningstar during the tutorial. She makes slither noises that get progressively louder as you keep attacking her.
  • As of version 0.0.6, she can be killed by returning to Juice School and fighting her.
  • Hitting her during the tutorial with a Morningstar will cause her to kill you as of 0.0.7.

• She is the first genuine boss to have been created with a boss theme.
  • She is also the only boss to have a theme upon death.
• The "correct" answers to her two final pop quiz questions are completely contradicted throughout the game. This implies that Mrs. Slitherss is actively trying to keep secrets about the world from her students, likely as a means of preventing an uprising or resistance.
  • "Is there anything out here in the fog? No." - This is an indirect reference to the Fog Giants, massive structures that are scattered throughout the Wilderness. This question might even be referring to the Wilderness in general.
  • "Is the sky made of ply-wood? Definitely not." - When the player gains high enough stamina stats to achieve sustained flight, they will be able to fly high enough that they will find that there is DEFINITELY NOT an endless barrier in the heavens made entirely of ply-wood.
• Though never explicitly stated, the fact she is named "Mrs. Slitherss" implies that there is, or was at one time, a "Mr. Slitherss".

Bugs

• If killing Mrs. Slitherss while she's using her laser eye beam attack before the boss fight, the lasers will remain frozen.
• Prior to V0.0.10, after killing Mrs. Slitherss, the player can move Mrs. Slitherss' corpse out of the Juice School planet once opening the Juice Door, but after few minutes while falling from the sky, her model will despawn like other enemies.
