The Health and Energy bars in game. Health is located above Energy.
Health is a vital statistic represented by the red bar in the top left of the Player's screen, directly above the Energy bar. It is used to determine how much injury a player can sustain before they die.
Gameplay[]
One of the main ways that Health can be lowered is through contact damage with Enemies. Enemies take away varying amounts of Health per type, although larger ones (such as those encountered at higher Monster Levels) tend to deal more damage. Certain enemies will also deal more damage upon contact with a certain portion of their body, whether it be a weapon they wield or a limb they are attacking with.
Unsurprisingly, impacting surfaces at high speed - typically done via reckless flying - can also deal damage to the player, with damage being more severe the more violent the collision was.
Health can be replenished through Sucking, where the amount of Health gained is dependent on the size of the Monster. Larger corpses give more health, but will take longer to suck, and have the potential to push the player around. Health will also automatically regenerate over time, albeit at an extremely slow rate.

An example of an item that adds both Health Max and Health Regeneration.
There are two statistics directly related to altering the player's health: Health Regen (health regeneration) and Maximum Health.
Health Regeneration[]
When the player takes damage from enemies, the player's health will increase over time, eventually returning to the player's maximum amount of health. The Health Regen stat alters how quickly this regeneration occurs.
Of note is that the rate at which this healing occurs is inversely related to the player's current health, meaning that the rate of regeneration will increase the closer the player is to dying. When on death's door, health regeneration rate will be six times greater than its rate when the player is barely injured.
The rate of this health regeneration is extremely slow by default, and can be increased by spending points upgrading the associated skill at a Juice Fountain.
Maximum Health[]
This stat determines how much damage the player can take before dying by augmenting the amount of health the player has beyond the default. Given that the player is fairly fragile upon starting out, and how it can be reasonably difficult to dodge all enemy attacks, this stat is an important one to increase. However, if a player is confident in their abilities, they can delay upgrading Maximum health in favor of improving their other abilities.
Like other player statistics, it can be upgraded by spending Juice points at a Juice Fountain. Certain pieces of equipment can also provide increases to this stat.
Increasing one's maximum health is strongly suggested before venturing into any more dangerous regions, such as the far reaches of the Wilderness or into Heck, as more powerful enemies in those regions will easily slay a starter player with a single touch.
Trivia[]
General[]
- The only item currently in the game that can be used to directly replenish the player's health is the Good Juice, although this appears to be mostly a side-effect of its usage.
Health Regeneration[]
- In earlier versions of the game, health regeneration did not increase in response to player injury, rendering it much less useful. This was changed to the current health-regeneration model in Version 0.1.2.
- Given that health can be returned to the player quickly by sucking enemy corpses, and that this ability can be obtained relatively quickly after entering the Wilderness, health regeneration is the most useful during boss battles where there are no weak enemies present to help the player regain health. Both Sgt. Suckerpunch and The Clog are examples of these kinds of fights.
Maximum Health[]
- If one intends to beat Mrs. Slitherss in mortal combat, you will have to invest at least a single level into the Maximum Health stat or gain an equivalent health increase via a wearable item. Otherwise, her first attack- which is unavoidable- will kill the player. This is typically not an issue, as the player will likely have a significant amount of stat upgrades by the time they are able to face Mrs. Slitherss for her actual boss battle.
