Derptera Stats card graphic by Ninja Jaybird
Derpteras are unique Monsters that roam around Ruins in the 0.2.5 Update. They are fast, hard to defeat tanky monsters that make exploring Ruins a bit harder. Their unique behaviours include running and chasing the player if in their detection radius, and using attacks like slapping instead of running into the player to cause damage if the player is too close. Derpteras spawn only if certain conditions are met, like if there are any Ruins around that may cause it to spawn.
Appearance[]
Derpteras are powerful, dinosaur-like creatures with long arms and spikes along their body.
Movements[]
Derpteras are very fast, maybe even the fastest Monster in JG as of 0.2.5, they run like a psychopath in a very brutal and angry manner, if a player is close enough, they will throw a fatal slap almost killing a fully max level player and leaving them with 3 bricks of health, they don't even have cooldowns, they will combo you up with slaps if you're not careful, as they demolish any player in it's way. They also move like the player does with their feet sticking to a surface when walking to keep balance.
Trivia[]
- Derpteras have changed a lot ever since Fishlicka started working on them, with the first version being nicknamed Cockatrice or Goliath by many people, they were originally were colored like a demon and were very big and tall, with the light almost making it look completely black, although the black spots on the Monster could be colored baby blue but many saw it as very black, the second version was The Wall Leaning Monstrosity recorded by Fishlicka and can be found here, the third version was the one we have today, but with the name being Doomfowl, this name was used in the 0.2.5 test build and was even the password to download the build too. And then we got the final version Derptera we all hate and love after 0.2.5's release.
- They sound like a very thirsty Pug and it's the reason one of it's names were The wall Leaning Monstrosity.
- It's the first and only enemy to actually attack instead of running the players over or bumping and jumping into their heads like a Goomba.
- Derptera's name sounds like diptera which is a word related to flies, meaning The Derptera is possibly not a dinosaur and instead a mutated fly or some other insect.
